A non-condensing turbine (or back pressure turbine) is usually run only to the extent of your facility’s process steam requirements. Sometimes you vent the excess steam to help balance the steam header against process upsets, or your turbine may be running below its rated capacity because your needs for process steam have changed over the years.

With the KGRA solution, you will be able to operate your turbine at full capacity – or close to – all the time, regardless of your steam demand. The idea is very simple: by ramping up your boilers, you will generate additional steam. KGRA’s ORC system will swallow that excess steam created by firing up your boilers and not used in your processes.

In this way, your turbine will make more power and the ORC system will also produce electricity using the excess steam at the back-end of your turbine. The ORC will return the steam as condensate for your boiler feedwater needs.

There are many benefits to the KGRA Solution for your Non Condensing Turbine:
-
The KGRA solution is perfect to help you generate more power with proportionately less additional fuel required relative to any other technology.
-
It also offers many advantages over conventional condensing turbines, primarily due to the simplicity of the ORC turbine, the control system, and the balance of plant.
-
Operations and maintenance requirements are extremely low: our systems are designed to operate without any ongoing onsite operator intervention since all of the system’s attributes are handled by an automated control system.
-
Finally, your boilers will be run efficiently since they will produce a constant amount of steam throughout.
Take the next step now and let us help you evaluate the opportunity from your non condensing turbine.
